An Ode to William Ofsiany

Mr. Ofsiany is a marvelous human being

This man

is a deliberative and sagacious Mr. Kotter

His facile, almost impish, and workable awareness of

each student's talents and squeamishnesses

For so many students he was:

An oracle of our ecological future

A stimulus to the probing of a cornucopia of insights

-the preparation of bones for display

-the distinction between micturition and nictation

(Oh My!)

A response to questions I didn't know I had

He engendered a deeper awareness of snakes,

pond life, pigs, life and

unexpected, unexplored feelings begun anew

and so much more

Mr. O: a teacher's teacher
